Why Shahid Afridi Official deserves a farewell

BLOG: Why   Shahid Afridi Official   deserves a farewell There is much debate on whether Shahid Afridi deserves to play a farewell T20 match or not. The cricketer who is known the world over as ‘Boom Boom’ has a loyal fan following while at the same time he has been called selfish and arrogant by several cricket pundits. I have always been on the fence when it came to Afridi. For me, his failures greatly outweighed his triumphs. Countless times ‘Boom Boom’ failed to deliver becau se he refused to change his sloggers approach to batting. There were several instances where I wished I could have asked him: ‘why Afridi why?’ So when I woke up this morning the last thing on my mind was Shahid Afridi. He was already a player of the past. But then a video on Facebook reminded me that despite the pain he had caused, Shahid Afridi was a game changer and one of the few Pakistani cricketers capable of snatching victory from the clutches of defeat. So what was in this video wh...

Misbah-Ul-Haq: “There can’t be a better location to receive the ICC Test Championship mace

Misbah-Ul-Haq: “There can’t be a better location to receive the ICC Test Championship mace than this ground where we last played a home Test seven years ago. It is ironic for both the players as well as the fans that the journey to the number-one position has been outside Pakistan. “The players have missed on the crowd support, while the spectators have been unable to watch live some magnificent team and individual performances. But I am confident that things will change and   international cricket will soon return to Pakistan.” “It has always been a dream to lift an ICC trophy as captain. To be only the ninth international captain to achieve this honour in the traditional format of the game is something to be very proud of. This mace is a reward for the efforts and hard work of each and every individual who has been part of this group over the past few years.”

Dave Richardson, ICC CEO visits Lahore and is hopeful that International cricket will soon return to Pakistan.

I'm glad that social media did not exist in 1992 and was not that much powerful in 2009 ! Because there are some people who always find something negative in some achivements , today that test mace is not a little thing this is hosgory and we have people who discuss ODIs ranking on a Test formate achivement ! Like in 2009 we won T20 world cup but where were we in test at that time ? Today we are not good in ODIs but we will be but thats not meant that we will spoil an achivem ent by discussing a weakness Try to feel and enjoy happy moments a messege for those who always find a negativity in a positive thing thats not only for Cricket that is also not good for your life too ! Salman Butt has the runs but not the strike rate. If he comes back

Salman Butt has the runs but not the strike rate. If he comes back into the ODI side it won't be the right decision - moral implications aside. In the National T20, his brilliant average came at a strike rate of 102, which was an aberration among the top batsmen. His semi-final knock displayed this trait best - he scored 55, yet took 55 balls to do so. In charitable terms, it could be said that his approach is obsolete in modern batting. In cynical terms, it could be said tha t he is selfishly putting together runs to get back into the national side.

Sarfaraz Ahmed: "We finished on a good AGAINST WESTINDIAN TODAY IN UAE

Sarfaraz Ahmed: "We finished on a good note in Manchester against England earlier this month & I hope we start on a good note here." "They don’t have Chris Gayle but they do have other good players. You can't win by names alone. You need to go & play well."

Sarfraz Ahmed: “The way we played last ODI against England at Cardiff and then the T20i game

Sarfraz Ahmed: “The way we played last ODI against England at Cardiff and then the T20i game in Manchester, it revived our confidence and team is eager to do the same against West Indies as well.” England were the finalist in World T20 and West Indies won that final, if we can beat England in their home conditions, then I think we are capable of beating West Indies as well.” I have told boys to remain positive and play their natural game freely, without any pressure. In T20i   game, a session of 10 minutes can turn the table, so we just need to remain focused and positive in the field.” In T20 format, fielding is always so important. Stopping boundaries, blocking singles and doubles and compensating a bad delivery by the bowler with fielding brilliance is must if we need to beat top sides. “We all are eager to regain the position of Pakistan cricket in limited overs cricket. As a T20i captain, I am aiming to lead the team to improve the position on ranking table.” ...

Pakistan have been always concerned about its poor batting

Pakistan have been always concerned about its poor batting display but these stats prove that our bowling is a bigger concern in the past 32 months. Pakistan's bowling average is worse than even Zimbabwe. Pakistan Economy rate is also the second worst among all top 10 nations. This is a big concern for Pakistan Cricket Team. Coach Mickey Arthur and the board should look to it and should make future plans about how to handle the existing bowlers and future bowlers in domestic.

PSL second adition this time in lahore

You know that the most epic event in cricket is coming back when you see the cat fights going on your time-line between the supporters of different cities who are trying there best to troll each other   :P   Thats why it is high voltage cricket !   Cant wait more !

Haris Sohail's knee surgery has not been successful

Pakistan batsman Haris Sohail's knee surgery has not been successful and there are complications in his recovery. He's currently at the NCA working with the PCB medics and fitness trainers and may require another operation.

Heart surgery was a life changing moment for me, says Chris Gayle

Heart surgery was a life changing moment for me, says Chris Gayle During the West Indies tour to Australia in 2005, Gayle underwent an operation to repair a hole in his heart, a fact which is not known to all and only revealed to his parents only after the prodecure. “Nobody knows that I was diagnosed with a hole in my heart in Australia, not even my parents. I was forced to undergo a surgery and I only informed my parents after the procedure.”   “Back then, I realised the importance of life. It was a life changing moment for me. Thereafter I decided to enjoy my life to the fullest and I am still doing so.” “While playing cricket and off the field I am doing a lot of entertainment but my book will give an insight into my life, my childhood, my struggle. Most people haven’t seen the other side of Chris Gayle.

Both Ahmed and Afridi need to respond all the critics with performance

Both Ahmed and Afridi need to respond all the critics with performance. There is absolutely no other way. Umar akmal performed and he is back. No use of 25 years cricket when you can't score in domestic. I am sure a lot many people will abuse me, so I must mention I am a huge Afridian but there is a fine line between an Afridian and Afridiot. Don't be an Afridiot!

Wahab thanked bowling coach Azhar Mahmood

I am really happy that I roared back at Old Trafford. The Nottingham game was a nightmare for me and the entire team,” said Wahab, before revealing the effect conceding an ODI-record 444 runs had on the visitors. “I couldn’t sleep for four to five days and kept reflecting on the reasons for my disastrous performance. I am never afraid of conceding runs, but that game was perhaps a turning point and made me reflect on things.” Wahab thanked bowling coach Azhar Mahmood for his role in his redemption, and revealed that after the Nottingham game he worked hard on fixing the issues in his bowling with the former all-rounder. “Mahmood worked tirelessly with me and gave me a plan to follow,” he added. “Before the T20I, we devised a strategy and I am really happy that I succeeded in executing the plans.

This is international cricket and you cannot deliver in a day: Mohammad Amir

This is international cricket and you cannot deliver in a day: Mohammad Amir “Whenever I play, there are a lot of expectations. But the thing is I don’t have a magic wand. This is international cricket and you cannot deliver in a day.” “I have come back to this level of cricket after six years. I know I have to work hard. It will take time. Even when I first started playing international cricket it took me a year before everyone started noticing me.” “The best thing is that this series (in England) was my biggest pressure tour. It went smoothly and that has added to my confidence. I am sure my performance will be better in New Zealand and Australia as I have done well against them in the past. Personally, I have this feeling that I am getting better with every match.” “During the tour I have observed various things and I know that I need to change. I have to work hard on my fitness and form. Once your level is up then you can really start expressing yourself.” ...

AB de Villiers who recently reckoned Mohammad Asif amongst his most challenging opponents.

Mohammad Asif is delighted over the praise from one of the modern-day greats, AB de Villiers who recently reckoned Mohammad Asif amongst his most challenging opponents. Mohammad Asif:“It is indeed a huge honour for me as it came out from one of the finest contemporary batsmen. I have some great memories playing against AB De Villiers as well” “I have had my share of luck against him (AB) as I dismissed him quite a few times. I remember troubling him with my in-swingers” “On the 2007 tour of South Africa, I picked him up a few times during Test matches. Later the same year in Pakistan, I couldn’t dismiss him but at least managed to ran him out once” He is a marvelous player and I look forward to playing against him again “I have been working hard to keep myself fit and eagerly waiting for the upcoming first-class season. I have good 5-6 years left in me and I want to represent my country again” Muhammad Asif will represent WAPDA in the upcoming Quaid-e-Trophy, Pakistan’...

Shan Masood: Misbah always has a joke or two up his sleeve.

Shan Masood: Misbah always has a joke or two up his sleeve. He keeps it very relaxed, and we are fortunate to have seniors like that who you can openly approach. They may seem mature and serious on television, but when they’re with their team they treat it as their home. Even when we’re losing he’ll say something like: “When we were bowling it seemed like a flat track and now they’re bowling it feels like Perth!” He’s especially good with the bowlers. He is always joking about setting fields and the bowlers getting it wrong. Then the coach says things like, “How do I deal with this guy?” and Misbah says, “You only have to deal with him for 40 minutes at lunch or 20 minutes at tea! I have to deal with them for six hours a day!”

BOOT CAMPS, PRESS-UPS, FOOTBALL AND FATE… Shan Masood

BOOT CAMPS, PRESS-UPS, FOOTBALL AND FATE… Shan Masood : We were literally outside our comfort zone. We had to get up at 4:30am every day. We did not have any choice when it came to room-mates. Whoever you were assigned to, you roomed with. Two weeks of it. They were very strict with timings. By 5:15am we’d be lined up, all 30 of us, to go straight to the top of the compound for the national anthem. But you dared not walk there, because walking was considered a disgrace to the   ground, so you had to run. There was a colonel running it, with three majors and 20 other staff members who were the best at physical training in their fields. They were all qualified and taught physical training to Pakistan soldiers. It created this patriotic sense within us. You’re singing the national anthem at 5:30 every morning. You start running and then while you are running you have to shout out a few chants. If you don’t shout those chants they make you run longer. One day I got sick because...
